La Guinardera Vi de Vila de Gratallops 2017
Celler Balaguer i Cabré
Spain- Priorat
La Guinardera is the product of just 2 hectares of the estate bearing the same name, situated in Gratallops, Priorat. It is produced from 100% Garnacha grapes, the variety most readily identified with the Priorat and perfect for imparting the llicorella slate terroir.
La Guinardera has a truly amazing nose: coming over quite definitely in the foreground are wonderful wafts of peaches and dried apricots, which typically occur in botrytized white wines, followed by notes of violet, thyme and liquorice. Such an aromatic concoction, on a blind tasting, could throw us into complete confusion, deceiving us into thinking that this was a white wine. It simply brims with acidity and minerality on the palate: if we close our eyes, the sensations we feel are the same as when tasting a late harvest Tokaji Furmint.
A remarkable Garnacha: La Guinardera.
