Buena Pinta is a special red wine, made primarily using the Moravia Agria variety, a grape native to Castile La Mancha. Featuring among its merits is a fantastic acidity that counteracts the Garnacha's lusciousness wonderfully well and sets the Buena Pinta apart from the wine profile most commonly encountered in the Manchuela DO.
The estate's calcareous-clay soils produce magnificent grapes which, nurtured under the strict principles guiding organic and biodynamic viticulture, are set to become prime material of exceptional quality. After harvesting by hand, the must is obtained by treading, without the grapes being destalked, and ferments by means of indigenous yeasts in open wooden vats. It subsequently matures for 7 months in 600-litre used barrels made of French oak which fully respect the wine's essence. It's then bottled without any filtering or clarifying.
On pouring it into the glass, one can discern its bright ruby colour of low to medium density. Its nose is perfumed and complex, with the aromas of ashes, cherries and black plum skin combining with subtle hints of cocoa and fallen leaves. On the palate, it's very fresh and slightly bitter, full and lively. The lactic touches gently work in with the agreeably rustic tannins which endow the wine with a distinctive character. Despite seeming to appear fragile, the Buena Pinta is a pedigree red, brimming with character, floral, balsamic and spicy, which no keen enthusiast should miss out on and, if possible, enjoy after allowing it a good aeration.
