Castello di Bolgheri Bolgheri Rosso Varvàra 2022

An excellent, fascinating wine and an authentic Bolgheri. The origins of Castelli di Bolgheri date back to the 1500s, when the property belonged to the Counts of Gherardesca. From then on the castle and its lands have been inherited by successive members of the family and nowadays belong to the Counts Zileri Dal Verme. It was they who in 1997 began to plant the international varieties traditionally grown in the Bordeaux region. Varvàra is obtained by means of an excellently crafted coupage: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Each variety makes its own essential contribution to the overall blend and, after 10 months in barrel, the result is a balanced, fruity and concentrated wine, and very easily drinkable it is too. Appearing an impenetrable, dense ruby-red colour, it releases aromas of red fruits and pepper on a pleasantly mineral background. On the palate, it exhibits plenty of body, good structure and balance.
