Serpico is a single varietal Aglianico, the red grape which gives rise to the noble wines of Mezziogiorno, Italy's southern region. It's made using grapes from the historic "Dal Re" vineyard, with century-old, pre-phylloxera vines. Feudi di San Gregorio, always attentive to the recuperation and regeneration of Irpinia's indigenous varieties, has invested a large part of its resources in the care and preservation of ancient vineyards, aware of the great heritage they represent and, consequently, of the magnificent wines they bring forth.
A lively ruby-red colour, Serpico seems to glow with life in the glass and gives advance notice of its intensity and complexity. On the nose, its harmony and the interactive prominence of its principal aromas are outstanding: the sweet notes of fruit jam (blueberries and cherries) and its vibrant minerality. On the palate, it appears expressive, with a remarkable presence of meaty fruit, spiciness and a slight piquancy, original notes of tobacco and incense, and a somewhat rustic touch. With firm tannins and an enveloping texture.
An Aglianico with a masculine character, but exceptionally well-balanced and elegant.
