Summary of Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi's evaluation of the 2016 vintage In 2016, Nature blessed the Sierra de Gredos with a perfect year, if such a thing exists in viticulture. Autumn brought copious rains followed by a winter that was untypically spring-like, with plenty of brightness and sunny skies. The snow arrived late for its winter slot, towards the end of February, and the cold weather now didn't want to leave in the following months. In spring, heavy showers come one after another, along with days of some light sunshine, which gave way to weeks of thick fog and silent drizzle. The summer storms brought, as they usually do, hailstorms which left their mark on the vines. Luckily, only 10% of the crop was lost and the rest of the summer period was kindly, confirming the fine harvest that was to come. 2016 was the reward for almost a decade of hard work of regeneration in the Sierra de Gredos. The vines, once weak due to the use of herbicides, now radiated life and light. The 2016 wines are profound, light and complex, with a finesse never previously attained, probably the best from Daniel Landi Viticultor.
