With the Massolino's there are no banal wines. The level of the second lines, in fact, is absolute, so much so that Moscato, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay express themselves at quality levels of exceptional complexity. Barbera is no exception. Produced by Massolino since 1896, the first vintage to be bottled, the house Barbera d'Alba comes from four hectares in Serralunga and expresses all the class and facets of a great Langa wine. To preserve its typical acidity and the exquisite dynamic tension upon drinking it, Massolino lets its Barbera age in steel only, for about six months: the result is an intriguing, crunchy, lively and immediately elegant wine.
With its intense purplish red colour which is almost impenetrable, as per the textbook, Massolino's Barbera d'Alba has an enveloping, soft and captivating bouquet, from which emerge the intense and fruity notes characteristic of the variety. Piercing, fresh and well balanced, it is an easy-to-drink wine, not excessively demanding but at the same time tasty and rich. It goes perfectly with the cuisine of the Langhe and with very tasty dishes in general. Excellent with pasta first courses, rice and soups, braised or grilled red meat and medium-aged cheeses. Perfect also as an aperitif with appetizers and cold cuts.
