Paixar is an iconic wine from the Bierzo region which, after several vintages in the hands of Alejandro Luna, Gregory Pérez and the García brothers, now belongs to the Luna Beberide winery. Its name is derived from the local dialect and refers to the age-old, tiny mountain vineyards which the winery operates alongside local growers to keep the wine-making heritage alive.
As it clearly shows on the label, Paixar is a slate-soil wine, one of refined rusticity. It was always a powerful and concentrated red, but with each successive vintage it has acquired an extra touch of subtlety, taking some of the limelight away from the oak and highlighting the marvellous fruit of its vineyards.
