Quinta Quietud is a real terroir wine, an authentic Toro with rustic overtones and which at the same time is both elegant and complex. It is an exquisitely balanced wine, that offers a delicious combination of the intensity and sweetness characteristic of the tempranillo grapes from Toro with the minerality and acidity that only the oldest vines can produce. Quinta Quietud is a full-bodied, structured wine — warm and intense, mature but fresh — which when left to age in the bottle becomes exquisitely elegant and immensely pleasurable.
It is well known that tinta de Toro grapes are rustic in nature; experience and knowledge are needed to domesticate them and this is a very important task. In Quinta de la Quietud the grapes are in the safe hands of Jean-François Hébrard, the technical director, an oenologist originally from Bordeaux, who knows precisely how to turn this vigour into sweetness, with a velvety texture, that melts in your mouth.
Quinta Quietud is a solid wine, it is the estate's signature wine and is meant for ageing. It is very fresh, lingering, and has overtones of ripe red fruit, fresh fruit, with hints of crisp apples that reinforce this refreshing sensation. Other clear and characteristic features of this wine are its hints of earthy leather, especially after it has rested in the bottle for several years. It is an elegant wine, easy on the palate, sweet, fruity, and very pleasant.
Quinta Quietud is made only from grapes of the tinta de Toro variety, from vines that are between 20 and 80 years old, with long maceration periods (15 to 18 days) and a traditional aging process. Indeed, the wine rests for 20 months in barrels, only a third of which have never been used, whilst another third have aged one wine and a final third have aged two wines. Over 70 % of the barrels are made of French oak.
