Of all the expressions offered by the Garnacha Tinta in vineyards countrywide, the one that comes over in the Terra Alta possesses the freshest profile, fruit-driven and balanced, richly nuanced with ripe plums, hints of woodland herbs and a distinct impression of mineral typically coming from the calcareous ground, so closely linked to Catalan wine-growing history and ideology.
True to that character distinguishing Garnachas from the Terra Alta, Rebels de Batea appears an intense Picota cherry colour in the glass, releasing very open aromas of fresh strawberries and black cherries, and revealing a smooth, silky and fruity palate, with rounded tannins and good persistence.
Openly direct, pure, fragrant and authentic, this red will appeal greatly to those who are after, more than just a drink, a whole landscape reflected in a glass of wine.
