Sierra Cantabria Crianza 2020

This 100% traditionally-styled Tempranillo comes from the Eguren family’s own vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. After a manual selection of clusters at harvest and further sorting at the winery, careful vinification processes ensure that an exceptional wine conveying the expressiveness of the Tempranillo grape is ready for traditional oak-ageing. A period of 14 months is spent in French and American oak barrels (used for up to 3 previous wines), with regular racking every 4 months and bottling without filtration. This is a clean, bright ruby-red coloured wine of medium-high intensity with light orange tones at the rim. Initial aromas of red fruit and spices are well balanced by secondary aromas from ageing (vanilla, cocoa and toast). It is very flavoursome on the palate, with ripe tannins showing through and good alcohol-acidity balance. The fruit-driven flavours have a slight predominance over the toasty notes, vanilla and cocoa, thus creating noticeable complexity. NOTA: Best stored at a constant temperature lower than 16ºC and preferably in the dark. Ready for drinking now and for the next few years.
