This wine comes under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and was first made in 1992 as a second wine. Since 1997, due to its high quality it has been considered a first wine that stands on its own merit.Originating from the Château de Valandraud vineyards (Virginie is the name of Jean-Luc Thunevin's daughter), grapes are grown and undergo vinification using the same methods as at Château Valandraud, run by the same team and under the direction of Murielle Andraud, Thunevin's wife.Aged for 18-20 months in new barrels.
